At the 25th IFSCC Congress, which was held in Barcelona, Cognis Care Chemicals focused on personal care products that serve the global wellness and sustainability trends. The selection included a “green” pearlizing wax dispersion, an natural-based microemulsion for wet wipes applications and different active ingredients which enhance the sensory properties of consumer products combining environmental compatibility and performance. According to Cognis, consumers are increasingly looking for products from natural sources which also have a pleasant appearance. Euperlan Green is the first “green,” ethylene oxide and amine free pearlizing wax dispersion intended for use in appealing hair and body cleansing formulations that fit the trend towards natural, sustainable beauty products. This novel, unique pearlizer is supplied as an easy-to-handle liquid. Because it is cold-processable, it saves time and energy during the manufacturing process. New Plantasil Micro is a transparant microemulsion which provides shampoos with improved hair conditioning performance. As a synergistic surfactant-oil system, Plantasil Micro is highly compatible with a wide range of surfactant systems. This hair care additive helps formulators to develop “green” high performance shampoos on the basis of natural sourced ingredients. Plantasil Micro uniquely combines outstanding performance and environmental compatibility to ideally serve the growing “green” trend in the shampoo business segment. Consumer expectations and needs for ecological and environmentally sound solutions also affect the wet wipes market. With Emulgade CPE, Cognis has developed a new highly concentrated and Ecocert-approved microemulsion. It is specifically designed to fulfill the increasing “green” trend for cleansing and care applications without sacrificing efficacy or convenience. It consists of a combination of a mild EO-free emulsifying system, caring plant-based emollients, natural bio-lipids and moisturizers, optimized to deliver effective cleansing and excellent skin tolerance, making it suitable especially for versatile wet wipes. Rheocare TTA is a liquid acrylic emulsion polymer for surfactant-based cleansing formulations. Due to its special rheological properties it is able to stabilize air bubbles, peeling particles and encapsulated actives in body cleansing formulations. This easily dispersible rheology modifier has a unique thickening and stabilization profile, and is specifically designed to enhance the appearance of cosmetic cleansing preparations. Cosmedia Gel CC, a versatile rheology additive, enhances the sensory feeling on the skin by improving spreadability and supporting a smooth, uniform layer on the skin. It can be used as a suspending agent in facial color cosmetics, as an emulsion stabilizer improving viscosity and thermostability in skin care formulations, as a booster of water resistance in sun care formulations, and as a texture agent leaving skin look velvety and mat. Cosmedia Gel CC is the ideal solution for formulators who seek an enhancement of both sensory and rheology in skin care and color cosmetic preparations. Consumers are demanding a light feel, long-lasting softness and smoothness in the products they use. With Cetiol SenSoft, the “happy emollient”, Cognis presented a versatile emollient that enables manufacturers to exactly meet the demand for a sensorial and holistic product experience. It is highly compatible with commonly used raw materials, offers excellent hydrolytic stability, good UV filter solubilizing power, and has the ability to wet powders. The emollient is therefore suitable for face, body, and sun care products, decorative cosmetics or deodorants. Also showcased at the Cognis booth was the Primacare range of innovative delivery systems for high-end cosmetics, which includes microcapsules, nanocapsules, and visual beads. Primasphere microcapsules steadily release their contents over an extended period of time, making them a good choice for stabilizing actives like Retinol and Vitamin E. The Primasys and Lipocutin nanocapsules enhance the penetration of the actives they contain. And the Primasponge are visual beads of different attractive colours and sizes offering exceptional marketing and sensorial opportunities like Peeling Primasponge or the new Pearl Primasponge line. The later comprises a wide range of sparkling pearly visible beads thus providing a special aesthetic and glamorous look to final formulations. More info: www.cognis.com
